Christian Brothers Automotive is a brand that continuously aims to uplift Franchise Owners and Operators through robust training and ongoing support. Because 85% of our Franchisee Owners/Operators have no prior experience in the automotive field, we’ve built a training program to ensure they have all the knowledge they need to be auto repair franchise champions. Training begins with an online pre-training course that new Franchisees complete on their own time, followed by a two-week in-office training held at our headquarters in Houston. Then, the hands-on training begins.
After spending four weeks at a Certified Field Location, learning the ins and outs of day-to-day operations from the perspective of a team member, new Franchisees then spend two more weeks learning directly from a Certified Field Trainer (CFT). Our CFTs are Franchisees themselves, and they continue the initial training period by providing first-hand knowledge from an owner's perspective. A new Franchisee’s CFT will also spend a week at their location to assist in implementing what they learned in training to their own business.
We believe hands-on training is the best way to jump-start a business’s success and build a foundation for continued advancement. By offering first-hand experience from day one, our Franchisees learn the ropes quickly with their CFT by their side to guide them wherever needed.
This program is both beneficial to incoming Franchise Owners and Operators and to our CFTs who work with them. The mentorship opportunity creates a network of support, where Franchisees can lean on each other for advice, best practices, and spiritual guidance. Jeff Toth, one of the first Franchisees trained as a Christian Brothers Automotive CFT, said he has established lifelong relationships with those he mentors: “I now have friends that know I’m there for them and [I] also know they are there for me whenever needed.”
Scott Stidd, another experienced CFT, also keeps in touch with those he has been entrusted with. Stidd remains open to communication from the Franchisees who trained with him, and hopes they feel comfortable going to him with anything they need, even after training is over. For him, that is one of the best aspects of the program.
“I am only a phone call away for questions and can help them with anything,” Stidd shared.
For incoming Franchisees, CFTs are both a source of information and there to reinforce positive outcomes. Toth describes his role as a CFT as being a cheerleader for those he mentors: “CFTs create a sense of trust within Franchisees since they’ve undergone similar experiences and challenges while opening their businesses.”
Our CFTs report they continuously learn more about Christian Brothers Automotive with each mentorship opportunity. For Scott Stidd, getting to see the growth and prosperity of his fellow Franchisees is an honor unique to this role.
Through our CFT mentorship program, our family of Franchise Owners and Operators can share in the joy of one another’s successes. Toth shared he often brings some of his own team members to assist with his mentee’s grand opening events so they too can join in the excitement. Doing so unites passionate individuals who share the same goal of reshaping the auto repair industry.

We're excited to share the highlights from our recent 9th Annual Mastering the Difference Conference (MTD) held in the vibrant city of Houston, home of our headquarters. Each year, this event brings together incredible automotive technicians and service team members from franchise locations across the country, providing time for learning, networking and celebrating the remarkable work taking place each day at CBA locations from coast to coast.
The MTD conference is more than just a gathering; it's a testament to our commitment to excellence in the automotive industry and the value we place on community and camaraderie. Our CEO Donnie Carr summed it up perfectly when he said, "When we invest in our team, we’re investing in the success of our brand and the satisfaction of our guests."
This year, we had the privilege of hosting some incredible keynote speakers. David Salyers, a marketing pioneer known for his work with Chick-fil-A, shared his wisdom with us and reminded our team members about the significance of perspective. We were also fortunate to have inspiring women in the automotive industry share their insights with us. Bogi Lateiner, a Master Technician and the host of the MotorTrend TV show All Girls Garage, delivered a passionate speech about changing the way women experience the industry as professionals and patrons. Lauren Strang, Director of Learning and Development for Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation, spent the conference teaching Service Writers and Managers the importance of effective employee onboarding in creating a world-class culture. Furthermore, Pastor Jason Robinson of the Church of the King added a unique perspective, emphasizing to us the importance of faith and community in all that we do.
One of the high points of the conference was our community service project, "Feed the Hunger." This initiative is close to our hearts as it aims to provide immediate nutritional resources to vulnerable children and invest in their long-term success through education and spiritual growth. During the event, attendees came together to package over 75,600 meals for children in need around the world. It's moments like these that remind us of the impact we can make when we work together and truly underscore the real mission of our organization.
At MTD, we also had the honor of presenting the coveted Lighthouse award to Megan Roan, the Business Development Officer for Christian Brothers Automotive locations in North Richland Hills and Weatherford, Texas. This award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Megan was the 2023 recipient for her outstanding work with the nonprofit Unfaulted and her contributions to National Service Day each year. We're incredibly proud of her and the positive difference she's making not just in her shops but in her community.
We also want to shine a spotlight on William Link, one of the dedicated technicians at Christian Brothers Automotive in Virginia Beach. William achieved the prestigious Auto Care Association (ASE) World Class Technician Certification. This certification is a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence in the automotive service field. Out of the 250,000 ASE-certified technicians in the United States, only 2,000 have achieved this status since 1986, with fewer than 50 attaining it annually.
As we reflect on the Mastering the Difference Conference, we're filled with gratitude and pride for the amazing teams working at franchise locations across our brand and the incredible dedication they bring to CBA. Next year’s conference in San Antonio will be just as invigorating and we can’t wait to reconnect with all the wonderful individuals that make up the CBA family.
The MTD conference is just one instance of how we develop our brand and team members at locations across the country. Likewise, the conference demonstrates the support we provide Franchisees and their team members.

As CBA has expanded over the last 41 years, we’ve brought people-first car repair and maintenance to numerous communities across the nation. Beginning with our Texas roots, where our first franchised location opened in The Woodlands, we’re now operating more than 275 shops across 30 states.
Our success lies not only in our dedication to excellent automotive service but also in our strategic approach to entering new markets and selecting prime sites for CBA shops. In this post, we'll delve deeper into our real estate support and highlight the stories of two exceptional Franchisees, Darleen Reese and Brett Clancy, who have grown their business with CBA in new territories.
We understand that a great location is pivotal to the success of any business. Even within a competitive commercial real estate market, we're able to compete without deviating from our site selection criteria to find our Franchisees and Franchise Operators the perfect site. In addition to our real estate criteria, serious consideration is given to important factors such as demographics, psychographics, property size, price, zoning, traffic counts, and more.
Our in-house real estate team takes a data-driven approach to pinpoint optimal locations, combining high-tech databases with on-the-ground intelligence. Here's an overview of the steps involved in our site selection process:
We believe that our attention to detail in the site selection process can help our franchise owners hit the ground running. Now, let's take a closer look at the success stories of two remarkable Franchisees who have pioneered CBA’s success in new growth markets.
In May 2014, Brett Clancy opened the very first CBA shop in Idaho. At nearly 5,000 square feet with nine service bays, the Meridian shop and its employees not only provide full-service automotive diagnostic testing and evaluation but also the thoughtful and supportive care that comes with the CBA approach. Brett’s first location amassed enough success that in June 2023, he signed on to expand in Star, Idaho, with his second shop to be located at 12440 W. Goldcrest Street. Having already broken ground at the site, Brett plans to open the doors of the second location in early 2024. Using our business model as a guide and his own unique community connections, Brett has thrived in his market entry; we’re thrilled to see him grow the business and wish him continued success in the years ahead.
Darleen Reese is a trailblazer in the Christian Brothers Automotive franchise family. She opened her first shop in Brentwood, Tennessee in 2000, becoming the first to own a shop outside of Texas and one of our very first female shop owners. Over the past 23 years, Darleen has built a thriving business and strong relationships in her community. Her commitment to providing honest service has earned her a wealth of long-term customers. Being involved with her team and problem-solving alongside them is extremely important to Darleen and it creates the caring culture that guests can feel. Darleen’s long-standing career with CBA is a testament to her hard work and dedication and we are so proud of her achievements over the last two decades.
With CBA’s real estate expertise and extensive support, our Franchise Owners and Operators feel ready to accelerate into new markets with confidence. We’re a brand built on a foundation of family. And we understand the importance of growing your business in partnership with your loved ones.
The stories of franchisees Sterling Woody and Scott Stidd stand as shining examples of how CBA franchising can be a conduit for building legacies that transcend mere business success, but have a generational impact, too. Scott, Sterling and their respective families encapsulate the transformative power of faith, family, and community.
Learn more about their journeys to CBA franchising below and how, if selected to the program, our Future Franchise Leadership Academy (FFLA) encourages our owners’ family members to develop their skillsets so they can one day become owners themselves.
Introduced to CBA through an acquaintance, Scott Stidd's journey to the brand found him as a guest of his local CBA shop. The shop’s exceptional service left a lasting impression, prompting Scott to reach out about our franchise opportunity. While Scott and his wife Kelley knew they wanted to own a Christian-based franchise, what they were looking for was a franchisor that truly wanted to help them succeed and grow. Opting for CBA's unique franchise structure, with robust franchisee support and royalties based on net revenue, Scott and his wife Kelley opened their Weatherford, Texas location in 2009 before purchasing their Rufe Snow, Texas shop just five years later. Their commitment to a values-based business approach set the stage for a legacy built on both professional success and spiritual principles.
Sterling’s introduction to CBA began in 2008, when he and his wife Leigh were at a crossroads during the recession. When his friend mentioned CBA and that he was building a store in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Sterling decided to visit and see the business for himself. After discussions with the Home Office, Sterling and Leigh decided to commit to CBA in 2010 with the hopes of finding real estate in Texas. With no available opportunities in the Lonestar State, their plan became to settle the business in Phoenix. However, God had plans of His own, and Sterling and Leigh’s wish to be in Texas was granted when the Waco market became available. Sterling opened his first shop in Woodway, Texas in 2012 and his second location in Temple, Texas in 2021.
Something Sterling took notice of in his early meetings with our founder, Mark Carr, was the way he brought his own sons, Jonathan and Donnie, into the business. Sterling took this as a stamp of approval that family can be part of the business, bringing a new perspective along with their own unique skills and expertise. Having close relationships with his two sons, Abe and Ben, Sterling mentioned the great success his Woodway store was having and suggested they play a part in the business. Ben worked at the Georgetown store as a Service Advisor under Keith Guyton’s leadership, before transitioning over to Service Writer at his dad’s Woodway shop in 2016. Fast forward seven years to today and Ben runs operations for the family’s’ shops, Sterling handles the financial aspects of the business, and Abe assists with marketing and community involvement efforts.
Starting as a Customer Service Advisor in 2018, Scott Stidd’s daughter, Megan Roan, was also encouraged by her father to join the family business and help run their Weatherford shop. Scott found working alongside his daughter incredibly rewarding, noting that while they could push each other’s buttons at times, they ultimately improved their communication and were able to brainstorm new ideas and solutions effectively. As a current member of our FFLA program–a two-year opportunity that helps promising automotive service professionals build their managerial skills and carve a path for potential ownership–Megan is on the road to becoming a Franchisee herself.
The legacy that Scott and Sterling have built extends far beyond themselves and their families. Community engagement lies at the heart of their journey, echoing CBA’s commitment to making a tangible difference in our neighborhoods, whether that is through automotive care or a simple kind gesture. Scott's involvement in initiatives like Unfaulted, a program that supports young girls aging out of foster care, is especially important to him. For the last two National Service Days, CBA’s annual brand-wide day of giveback, Scott and his team have donated their time and efforts to Unfaulted, hoping to equip the women with the knowledge and skills to be successful, independent adults.
As for Sterling, he and his shops partner with churches in the community to help in whatever capacity they are needed. Focusing on individuals is the approach Sterling finds most effective when making a difference with members of his community, and his open-door policy allows anyone to come to him for help. By actively participating in programs that enhance and uplift their local communities, the Woody and Stidd families reinforce the notion that a successful business is one that nourishes the fabric of the community it serves.
Scott Stidd, Sterling Woody, and their families have etched a legacy that resonates deeply within the realms of faith, family, business, and community. Their journeys through CBA franchising have been guided by a profound purpose – one that extends beyond profits and encompasses values, relationships, and community impact. For those aspiring to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey, the lessons from Scott and Sterling are clear: success isn't just measured in numbers, but in the lives touched, the values upheld, and the communities enriched.

Deciding to start your own business can be daunting. Many individuals eager to go into business for themselves can run into issues regarding funding, marketing and operational challenges, putting them right back where they started. Franchisees, on the other hand, receive all the benefits of having franchisor support as they get their business up and running, as well as continued backing throughout the years ahead. At CBA, we are here to fuel entrepreneurial spirits by providing an outlined business structure that puts our franchisees on the path to sustainable and scalable growth in the automotive industry.
There are many factors to consider when deciding if investing in a franchise concept is best for you. Below we have outlined a few points to consider when deciding if a franchise concept is a superior choice for building your business.
At CBA, our franchisee support does not end after opening day. We provide ongoing guidance to all franchisees and a diverse set of tools for our members to utilize such as self-paced, in-office, and hands-on training. Additionally, our Home Office of 150 individuals provides continuous and engaging two-way communication and guidance for each franchise owner.
In contrast, starting a business from scratch requires self-directed support, and lacks the availability of these tools, which are continuously evolving. There are no pre-existing courses or integration strategies to assist in building or scaling the business. As a result, the internal creative challenges of designing systems and operations often lead to a longer startup process. CBA is proud to provide franchise owners with a solid foundation to build their brand quickly and effectively through proven systems and procedures we’ve perfected over the last 40 years.
Since 1982, we have dedicated our business to providing strong, faith-based automotive care to every community we serve. Recognized nationally as a car repair business guests can trust, CBA impacts franchisees positively by positioning them with a strong brand presence in their community before they even open their shop. By franchising with CBA, owners automatically adopt more than just our name; they adopt our decades of customer satisfaction and reputation for providing all guests with the Nice Difference® experience.
Establishing a loyal reputation from scratch is a challenging endeavor to undergo as an independent business owner and can take years to establish. CBA offers a platform for franchisees to personalize their store while simultaneously leveraging a broader, renowned brand image of trustworthiness.
Recently, we’ve been ranked in the 2023 Culture 100 List by Franchise Business Review. The list rounds out the top 100 brands with the best franchise culture across the nation. CBA franchisees reported over a 97% satisfaction rate in being a part of the company, while 100% of these owners said they are likely to franchise with CBA again. This ranking reinforces that our commitment to respect, transparency, and integrity is appreciated and highly valued. CBA’s unmatched service and unwavering commitment are what we are known for across the country and our franchisees benefit from that reputation and are proud to be a part of a culture-driven business.
Lastly, one of the most valuable ways in which CBA supports franchise owners is by offering an educational environment where franchisees can develop their personal and professional skill sets. Many of our franchisees enter the automotive service industry without prior experience, which does not hinder them from running successful CBA businesses thanks to our extensive and ongoing Home Office support.
One shining example of franchisee success is Andrew Slemp, owner of CBA Murfreesboro. Andrew was recently named a Franchise Rock Star by Franchise Business Review for his giveback efforts and meaningful impact in his community. Andrew has been a longstanding resident of Murfreesboro and worked alongside his dad to run his shop before he and his wife Tyrella took full reigns of the business in September 2021. Andrew was chosen out of 250 nominations and eight different categories because his approach to running his shop truly exemplified what it means to be a FBR Franchise Rock Star. Congrats to Andrew for his hard work and thank you for being a passionate steward of your team in Murfreesboro!
Starting a business from scratch has many appealing aspects for entrepreneurs, but owning a franchise provides an enticing alternative that combines the benefits of business ownership with the support and industry expertise of an established brand. By joining a franchise family like CBA, you position yourself for growth in the thriving automotive industry and have the chance to make a positive impact in your community. If that sounds like the entrepreneurial dream you’re chasing, we’d love to connect with you and learn more about your background. As a faith-based franchise, we apply our Christian values to the way we approach our car repair business and guest service. It’s our core values and culture commitments that define us and set us apart in the automotive industry, so we want to ensure they are at the forefront of all our actions. Below are a few reasons why CBA prioritizes a different way of doing business.
At the heart of our business philosophy lies a strong emphasis on building lasting relationships with our guests. We believe in treating each guest as an individual, not a transaction. By prioritizing people-first interactions, we create an environment where trust and mutual respect thrive. Our goal is not merely to repair cars but to connect with people, understand their needs, and provide personalized solutions that go beyond surface-level interactions. We strive to foster a sense of community and genuinely care for the well-being of each and every one of our guests.
Integrity is the foundation of our business. We understand the importance of honest and transparent communication when it comes to car repair and maintenance. We are committed to providing accurate assessments, clear explanations and fair pricing. Our technicians are trained to communicate effectively, ensuring that guests have a complete understanding of the repairs needed and the options available to them. By upholding ethical standards in our operations, we aim to build trust and eliminate the skepticism that new drivers, or those with little automotive knowledge, may feel when getting their car serviced.
Our tireless dedication to people-first car care does not go unrecognized and this is how we know our approach to business works. For the fourth time in a row, we were named #1 in customer satisfaction among aftermarket full-service maintenance and repair providers by J.D. Power*. In the recently published J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Aftermarket Service Index (ASI) Study, CBA was named the top-ranking aftermarket service provider for general maintenance in terms of customer satisfaction. The ASI Study measures customer satisfaction with aftermarket service facilities and evaluates seven categories that include fairness of charges, service quality, service advisor, service facility, service initiation and vehicle pick-up. We are proud to have achieved the highest score in six of the seven study factors: Ease of Scheduling/Getting Vehicle In for Service; Service Advisor Performance; Service Advisor Courtesy: Service Facility; Fairness of Charges; and Quality of Work.
At Christian Brothers Automotive, we stand apart from other automotive businesses because of our unwavering commitment to people-first car repair and maintenance. By applying our Christian values to every aspect of our business, we create an environment where trust, integrity, and compassion flourish. Our goal is not only to deliver exceptional service, but also to build long-lasting relationships with our community members based on genuine care and understanding.

As more Veterans eagerly look for ways to develop their careers in the franchise industry, CBA is here to help Veterans leverage the skills that helped them serve their country to set up a thriving business in their community.
So how do we put our franchise owners on the stable path toward long-term success in the automotive repair franchise industry?
We offer a 10% discount on franchise opportunities for Veterans through VetFran

The Christian Brother Automotive franchise opportunity is an investment that aligns well with the values held by potential franchise owners. As the 2022 Franchise Business Review survey shows, many of our existing shop owners found our automotive franchise enticing because it allows them to not only develop their business ownership goals, but also engage in community giveback initiatives and value-driven work through our people-first approach to automotive care. Our commitment to a culture of excellence can be seen in our Home Office and every one of our 257 shops across the country. Here's how we embody our core values of neighborly, joy, excellence, and transparency – all while helping others:
In 2005, we hosted our very first National Service Day to spread goodwill in the communities we serve. While this allocated day of service started as a franchisee-led initiative, it has since grown into a cornerstone of our brand. Every second Saturday of October, each member of the Christian Brothers Automotive family comes together to give back to single moms and other individuals who may need a helping hand. Our shops partner with local churches and other non-profit organizations to identify the needs in each community. Then, on National Service Day, our teams donate their time and the cost of parts to provide participants free oil changes and other safety repairs. Our commitment to neighborliness and compassion are vital to the continued culture we wish to cultivate at Christian Brothers Automotive, and our franchisees exemplify those characteristics magnificently. We recently celebrated our 12th annual National Service Day on October 15th, click here to learn more.
To further encourage our franchise family to pursue a path of giving, we instill in our automotive franchise system many ways to pay it forward. From our welcoming waiting rooms in each shop to our complimentary shuttle service, our auto service franchise model puts people first and treats each guest with the utmost care and respect. After celebrating 40 years of business, we wanted to show both our franchise owners and guests how much their continued support means to the Christian Brothers Automotive brand. Throughout September, our Home Office team sent each owner a gift box containing items representing our core values: Excellence, Transparency, Joy and Neighborly. To keep kindness contagious, shop owners then surprised one of their loyal guests with a gift box of their own, as a token of thanks and appreciation. In addition, some of the guest gift boxes contained randomly placed golden tickets, which awarded 40 lucky guests with a year of free oil changes. When our brand exemplifies our culture commitments at a corporate level, our franchisees feel encouraged to continue their commitment to bettering the lives of others in their own communities.
From franchise owners to shop managers, our franchise system consistently looks for the best ways to engage with the community and help those in need. We are honored to have many incredibly kindhearted individuals on our team who volunteer their time to help others. For example, manager of the Christian Brothers Automotive shops in Bryan and College Station, Texas, Jeremy Smith, was named the 2022 Lighthouse Award recipient for his volunteer work with OnRamp. Jeremey donated countless hours of his spare time to build and oversee the organization's vehicle team, repair clients' cars and build an incredible vehicle tracking database.
Jerry Wilson is another franchisee whose selfless acts have not gone unnoticed. As owner of the Lake Jackson, Texas shop, Jerry and his team recently donated a repaired vehicle to Lettie Wilson. Lettie, a single mother with two daughters, had just been involved in an accident that left her without transportation. By partnering with a local nonprofit, Jerry and his shop team were able to step up and help someone truly in need. Jerry and Jeremy are just two examples of the countless team members at Christian Brothers Automotive that put our values into action. Their generosity and servant leadership play a large role in allowing us to stay on top of a competitive industry.
The positive culture of a company can improve overall franchisee and guest satisfaction. We value the input of our current franchise owners and are proud to have been recognized by the Franchise Business Review survey in several categories for 2022. This year, Christian Brothers Automotive received the following distinctions:

Business ownership is the ultimate goal for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset, but starting a business by yourself can be intimidating. Franchising offers a unique prospect for entrepreneurs because it provides many first-time owners with the necessary tools to start, operate and scale their business. The first step entrepreneurs can take when starting a business is choosing an industry that is right for them with promising market growth ahead.
Here are three reasons why franchising in the automotive market may be the right investment for budding entrepreneurs:
Christian Brothers Automotive has more than four decades of industry knowledge with refined systems and processes under our belt. We guide franchise owners on how to use our proven systems to make the start-up process and ongoing operations simple, maintainable and successful. One particular process that especially appeals to new franchisees is site selection support. We realize that not all franchise owners carry the real estate experience needed to select an optimal site, which is why our in-house real estate team leads the site selection, acquisition, development, and construction of their business. Through data collection and extensive market research, we identify areas that meet our customer demographics, while also taking into account experiential feedback from existing franchisees to ensure the selected sites check every box for a thriving business.
Because of our decades of experience in the automotive field, and the accolades we’ve received along the way, Christian Brothers Automotive franchisees can feel confident in running their business from day one with national brand awareness and a strong reputation behind them. To further prove our best-in-class standing in the industry, Christian Brothers received the 2021 ACE Award and notable rankings on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 list, Franchise Business Review’s Top Franchises list and J.D. Power in 2022.
The automotive repair industry has continued to thrive throughout times of both prosperity and recession. Americans rely heavily on their cars, and those cars will always require maintenance and repair, which means brands like Christian Brothers Automotive will continue to play an integral role in helping guests get back on the road. On average, Americans spend more than $500 a year on car maintenance/repair and recently the average age of cars on the road rose to 12.2 years old with a typical mileage of 200,000. With these factors as indicators, it’s clear to experts that the auto repair industry’s market size is showing steady growth, demonstrating that our franchise owners can invest in a promising business opportunity. Our brand’s unwavering resilience is further evident in our ranking as a Top Recession-Proof Franchise for 2022.
Scalability is just one indicator of brand success, and, in the 40 years since Christian Brothers Automotive’s inception, we’ve grown significantly without ever closing a location. Our most recent growth puts our automotive franchise at a footprint of more than 250 shops across the United States. Plus, we are grateful that we were ranked number one by J.D. Power for the third year in a row and scored the highest in Customer satisfaction for Aftermarket full-service maintenance and repair with a score of 825* in addition to our #2 ranking on the list of America’s best franchises to buy. These accolades put Christian Brothers Automotive in a prime position to continue raising the standard for quality service within the automotive industry.
