STATE-OF-THE-ART COMPUTER LAB WILL BENEFIT 1,100 STUDENTS EACH YEAR
Students at Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) Houston campus are in for an upgrade at the end of the year with the completion of the Christian Brothers Automotive (CBA) Knowledge Center.
Sponsored by CBA, the high-tech computer lab will be used by an average of 1,100 students each year for research projects. Along with a few more surprises, the Knowledge Center will feature 30 computers equipped with over-sized monitors to make reading electrical schematics and part diagrams much easier.
The lab will also allow UTI students exclusive access to a UTI Portal, the same online technical forum used by CBA technicians to stay up to date on industry news and communicate solutions to complex diagnostics issues. Students will also be able to reach out to CBA Senior Master Technicians for help on projects and diagnosing problematic vehicles.
“The day of the shade tree mechanic that could fix anything with a set of hand tools is history,” Matt Miller, a CBA recruiter, says. “It is essential that today’s technicians are educated on how to communicate with and diagnose the cars on the road today. Our goal for the Christian Brothers Automotive Knowledge Center is to equip UTI students with the tools they need to practice the theory they have just learned in class.”
